I am I - Presences of a Narcissistic Art Theory Performances & Exhibition

The performative exhibition "I Am I" is based on the 2023 film of the same name – a fictional documentary about an artist with a narcissistic personality and an extraordinary need for self-expression. The performance group Zugvögel takes up the film's motifs of excessive self-love and provocative, deliberately non-normative art, processing them improvisationally in the exhibition. 

The presentation is complemented by works from the first "Bad Art Workshop," initiated by Lydia Karstadt. The workshop specifically explored strategies of non-conformist, experimental design to break through creative blocks and expectations – with the surprising result that new aesthetic qualities often emerge precisely in transcending convention.
